The vision in the nonprofit sector is characterized by hope, by the significant change we want to make in society, it is the driving force that motivates us to work, and it is the nourishment we take, whenever the body weakens and the spirit falters, it is the ambition we strive day and night to see with our own eyes in reality.

The vision speaks about the cause for which the organization works and the ultimate result it seeks to achieve very clearly, it talks about the dream that, once achieved, ends the organization's work, and it is usually grand and can only be achieved with the availability of all efforts. An example of this is (a decent life for the poor in the Kingdom) (suitable housing for every family), these are dreams pursued by more than one organization from different angles.

I have researched more than 12 nonprofit organizations in the Kingdom and found that the formulas do not speak about the dream but rather about what distinguishes them from other entities (example: to be an exemplary charity in its management, technology, and services). Is excellence in administrative work an end in itself? Or is it a means to a larger goal?

In my opinion, words like leadership in such and such or the distinguished organization, which we often find written in visions, are derived from the idea of competition in the private sector, but in reality, our vision is neither leadership nor excellence but rather the shared dream, which is the change we want to make. Charitable organizations do not compete in the dream but in the quality of internal operations; visions for charity organizations may be the same because the reason for which the charity organizations were established is one, which is to help those in need and provide a decent life, but the path to achieving this dream is different.

In conclusion, we may focus on the structure of the vision and overlook its meaning, what matters is that the vision be genuine in our charitable sector, not a mere requirement of the strategy, and those working in the field create daily impact and change and assistance that deserve to be articulated in the vision more clearly.
